Hey folks, long time no see…
I’ve been off treasure hunting and building up my personal inventory in preparation for not one, but TWO Geek Trader Markets coming up in a preetttyy tight window—so I apologize for the radio silence on our little market’s comings and goings! Here's a lil bit that's coming in HOT this week!

On May 22nd, join us at Tank Space on 8th Street at 6 pm for drinks, burgers, and talk about your favorite flicks with other film heads. As I'm typing this, we have 15 out of the 25 spots filled. Friday, May 23rd - 5 pm-11 pm

We’ll be popping up this Friday during Cherry Capital Comic Con’s Preview Night with a mini market of our own! Ten of our awesome vendors will be joining Northern Michigan’s longest-growing hive of nerdom for what’s essentially a sample-sized Geek Trader Market—a little teaser for con-goers and a hype-builder for our big June event.
Way back when I was a lil’ baby in my 20s, I was trading my time for comics and Ham-Bonz BBQ, helping bag the week’s new releases at Top of the Ninth (now Top Comics). I had no idea at the time that I was part of something that would grow into a pillar of the Traverse City and Northern Michigan nerd community. That one weekend became the spark for so much of what exists now.

And let me just say—the bar that C4 and their crew of volunteers have set for how they treat their vendors is nothing short of Herculean. I’ve had the honor of being behind the curtain—helping out with the con, working the vendor side with TC War Room, and even hanging out in Artist Alley back when a couple of friends and I were making our own comics.
The way C4 support their vendors? It’s like that one Hercules task—the fifth one, I think—where he had to clean out those stables. It was supposed to be impossible, right? Not because vendors are messy (okay, I lied—some are… but I swear I never was), but because of the tireless and often invisible work it takes to turn what could easily be chaos into something welcoming, smooth, and incredibly well-run. And every year, somehow, they make it look even more effortless.
That’s exactly the kind of energy we want Geek Trader Market to bring to the table—every single time.

We’ve already got our movie group rolling, and now I’m diving into another one of my absolute favorite hobbies. Some of you already know this, but I’m a huge fan of that galaxy far, far away. So much so, I decided to start a Star Wars: Unlimited league.
If you haven’t tried it yet, Star Wars: Unlimited is a fast-paced trading card game where you build custom decks around iconic heroes, villains, and starships from almost every era of the saga. Whether you’re into intense head-to-head duels or prefer a more political 4-player format like Twin Suns (think Commander, but Star Wars), there’s a way to play that fits your style.
TC War Room has already had great turnouts for pre-releases and Store Showdowns, but I want to help get these cards into even more players’ hands. This new monthly league will be part of our bigger community-building efforts.
Here’s the plan: Each player gets an achievement checklist—complete fun in-game goals, try new strategies, and you’ll earn free booster packs and rise through the league ranks. John and the TC War Room crew are all in, and they'll be sponsoring prize support, promos, and other cool perks just for league players, outside of the usual Friday shop events. We've got a limited space for 25 so please RSVP if interested.
